Getting adjusted...

Life for us with two babies under 2 has been great, busy and a little challenging at times. Morgan has been a great helper and loves Graham to pieces. She tries to share all of her toys with him, tries to feed him her food, loves to help with his baths and change his diapers and enjoys having him in the back seat of the car with her when we go bye bye. It is so fun to watch her around him and it is obvious that she is a proud big sis. She is so ready for him to grow up and play…but we aren’t going to rush it!! She has been great at adjusting to having a new baby in the house and we are thankful that is didn’t completely shake her world but she has her moments. By the end of the day when daddy gets home she gets a little testy. I haven’t figured this out yet. When he is home, she wants to be held all the time and throws little fits when things don’t go her way. She does not do this to me during the day. I don’t know if this behavior is a result of her age or because of the new change in our home. Hopefully this behavior will get better with some time…each day gets a little better. Graham has been a great baby. I think we are getting close to having him figured out (or at least I feel like we are). He hasn’t been the best at nursing. In the last week I haven’t felt like I have been able to fill him up after nursing. I gave him a bottle of formula for the first time a few days ago and he took the bottle very well and seemed full and happy when it was gone. I have since started to pump and feed him with a bottle more often and we have been supplementing with formula when needed. It seems like this is working well. Like I mentioned in a previous post, Graham has been a great sleeper but hasn’t been crazy about his crib. We are making progress though. We have been getting him to sleep in there a little longer each night. I shouldn’t complain, at least he sleeps. It is hard to believe Graham is almost a month old and Morgan turns 2 this weekend. We are looking forward to a weekend of celebrating Morgan’s birthday and spending time with our family. Here are a few recent pics.

2 weeks old...

It is so hard to believe that our little guy is two weeks old today. Time goes by so fast. I want him to stay sweet and snuggly and tiny forever. My recovery has been good. I felt great the day after my surgery and was up moving around as soon as they told me I could. In fact, I probably over did it because my incision came open and I had to get it restitched Friday. I have to be careful so it doesn’t happen again. The toughest part is that I can’t pick up Morgan. She seems to understand and is okay with it. She does want everyone else to hold her though. Our little boy is doing great. The only curve ball he has thrown us so far is that he hasn’t liked his crib. We have to keep working with him but for now he is sleeping in swing, bouncer or by me. I have heard that little boys need lots of security and are more dependent than little girls. I believe it! He sleeps a lot, gets his diaper changed a lot and is eating good. We went to his doctor on Monday and Graham weighed 7.1 (which means he gained his birth weight back and some). His appt went great. We don’t go back until he is 2 months, which seems like a long time but I know it will come fast. Morgan has been a great helper and the best big sister. Bryan has been awesome at keeping up w/ her. We had forgotten how relaxing it is to have a newborn; it is the 2 year old that keeps us on our toes.

Here are some pics from the last 2 weeks….

Graham Bennett Baughman

Graham has arrived!

Wednesday, January 6, 2010
9:05 a.m.
6 lbs. 15 oz.
20 in.

I was scheduled for a c-section on January 11th but Graham had his own plan. I went into labor at 2:00 a.m. on the 6th. We arrived at hospital at 6:00 a.m. and I was 3 cm. dialated. The nurses called my doctor and she arrived at the hospital shortly after. Graham arrived via c-section at 9:05 a.m. He had some fluid in his lungs so they took him to the NICU to monitor his breathing. He was released from NICU and got to visit us in our room around 6:00 pm that evening. It is so great to have him here! We are so blessed. He is absolutely perfect. We are in love yet again with our new bundle of joy.

Here are some pictures.
